Earlier this week, President Trump’s administration announced its intention to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) more commonly known as the Dreamers program. DACA provided 800,000 undocumented youth the ability to live, study and work in this country without fear of deportation.
DACA allowed people brought to our country as children the ability to choose opportunity without fear. To have Dreamers pushed back into the shadows will not strengthen the American spirit; rather it will further dim its light.

What you should know about DACA
After President Trump’s recent decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), here’s what you need to know:
1. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will no longer accept new applications.
2. Those currently enrolled in DACA will be able to continue working until their work permits expire.
3. Those whose work permit expires by March 5, 2018 will be permitted to apply for renewals as long as they do so by Oct. 5.
4. New applications and renewal requests already received by DHS before September 5, 2017, will be adjudicated on a case-by-case basis.
