Unity Health Care Partners with Israel Baptist Church to Provide COVID-19 Vaccine
At Unity Health Care, we continue to play a vital role in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine throughout the District. In December, Brentwood Health Center, located in Northeast Washington, D.C., became one of our distribution sites. To ensure we could meet the needs of protecting our community against COVID-19, we partnered with Israel Baptist Church to provide vaccinations to patients, community members, and church members in qualifying priority groups. This partnership embodies community service and the Unity mission.
This collaboration provides Unity with adequate space to provide a much-needed service to this community's underserved and vulnerable members. We're proud to take a leading role in ensuring vaccine equity in the District, especially for residents in wards 5, 7, and 8. Many recipients of the vaccine have expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude for this life-saving opportunity.
"Realization of the vision for a Community Life Center and our partnership with Unity Health Care has never been more profound than now. Never would we have imagined the lifeline such a partnership would present to an often-forgotten community in the midst of a global pandemic. Use of our collective assets with purpose, presence, and equity is a shared victory for the residents of this community, the ministry and missions of Israel Baptist Church/Israel Manor Inc., Unity Health Care, and the citizens of this great city," said Veronica Harrison, Vice-Chair & Acting Chair, Israel Manor Inc. Board of Directors.
"Through this partnership, we shine our light in dark places. This life-saving vaccination initiative epitomizes our joint commitment to be a beacon of hope and empowerment by providing access to healing for the mind, body, spirit, and soul."
Unity’s Brentwood Health Center provides over 100 vaccines daily from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm to patients, community, and church members with appointments.
