Unity Health Care Celebrates National Health Center Week
WASHINGTON – Monday, August 14, 2017– Unity Health Care (Unity) will celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW), a national campaign that highlights the work and impact of community health centers throughout the nation. National Health Center Week will occur from Sunday, August 13th – Saturday, August 19th, with events geared to raise awareness about the importance of community health centers for our patients and communities. National Health Center Week events at Unity will include a visit from Councilmember Trayon White. The Councilmember will join our WE CAN!/Wellness program that helps patients learn about healthy choices related to food, nutrition, and physical activity class on Wednesday, August 16th at our Anacostia Health Center located at 1500 Galen Street, SE. On Friday, August 18th, Unity will host an Open House at our Brentwood Health Center located at 1251 Saratoga Avenue, #B NE. The event will be open to the community, and will provide an opportunity for patients, stakeholders, city officials and local media to visit a health center and learn more about our mission, accomplishments and the importance of DC residents having access to health care within walking distance of their home. “National Health Center Week is a celebration of community centers around the nation, and with the changes the health care system is facing right now, it's an opportunity to bring awareness about the need for our community on the many issues they face every day, “stated Vincent A. Keane, President and CEO, Unity Health Care. “Community health centers are accessible to the neighborhoods they serve as they are located in the community. Patients can see their primary care provider, dentist, mental health clinician and pick up their prescription at the health center right down the street. We are extremely grateful to play a vital role in helping our patients and community members live healthier lives.”
