Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Unity Health Pharmacy
WASHINGTON, D.C – June 7, 2017– Unity Health Care (Unity) will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of two new pharmacies located inside Parkside and Upper Cardozo Health Centers. Ward 7, where the Parkside Health Center is located, has the fewest number of pharmacies of any ward in the city.
The ceremony will be held at the Parkside Health Center located at 765 Kenilworth Avenue at 11am and will include remarks from Vincent Keane, Unity Health Care President and CEO, Vincent A. Gray, Ward 7 Councilmember and Health Committee Chair, and Dr. Anjali Talwalkar, DOH Senior Deputy Director of Community Health Administration.
The pharmacies will allow patients to fill new prescriptions or obtain refills while visiting the health centers. The pharmacies will also offer convenient home delivery of reoccurring prescriptions to established patients.
“Unity is always looking for new ways of improving access to our patients and having the pharmacies on-site will make it an easier and convenient way for them to get their medications,” stated Vincent A. Keane, President, and CEO of Unity Health Care. “We are thrilled to offer this service within two of our locations. The ability to have Unity Health pharmacists work seamlessly with healthcare providers to facilitate medication management is a very important piece to provide a consistent level of care for our patients.”
Unity Health Care is pleased to have engaged Maxor National Pharmacy Services to facilitate the opening of the two pharmacies at Parkside and Upper Cardozo Health Center. Maxor has a long history of working with federally qualified health centers to provide pharmacy management solutions.
"Pharmacy is an essential component of patient care. Unity Health Care's vision to incorporate onsite pharmacy services within their larger HealthCare delivery system will mean better and more accessible care for the DC community they serve,” states Ben Kelly, Vice President of Operations, Maxor National Pharmacy Services, LLC.
Each year, Unity serves over 105,000 patients in the District and the pharmacy is an important addition to Unity’s system of care. The opening of Unity Health Pharmacies will create a convenient, stream-lined approach to navigate prescription pick-up, refills, provider authorizations, and formulate unique programs and services to assist patients with medication adherence.
